Ginny Myers Sain tells us how setting can bring a story to life
You probably know how important plot and character are to good writing. But in addition to having a strong WHAT and WHO, the best books also have a deep and immersive sense of WHEN and WHERE. In this workshop, Crystal Kite winner and New York Times Bestselling author of atmospheric thrillers DARK AND SHALLOW LIES and SECRETS SO DEEP, Ginny Myers Sain, will share tips for bringing your work to life by making your settings sing.
About Ginny Myers Sain
Ginny Myers Sain is the New York Times bestselling author of DARK AND SHALLOW LIES (2021) and SECRETS SO DEEP (2022), both from Razorbill Books/Penguin Teen. Her third book, ONE LAST. BREATH, will be released early next year. Although she comes from a long line of writers, Ginny’s first love has always been the theatre. She has a degree in theatre and has spent most of her career teaching acting and directing plays and musicals.
As a reader, Ginny has always been drawn to the strange and the spooky. During her young adult years, she devoured books by Daphne du Maurier, Shirley Jackson, Lois Duncan, and Stephen King.
Now, as a writer, she enjoys creating dark, tangled, mysterious stories that exist in the in-between spaces where magic feels most possible.
